When we pulled out of Vung Tau on January 1st, 1967, we headed north on the main highway towards our first base camp, Bearcat.
Riding on deuce and a half trucks we had an opportunity to pass through Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) and other towns in the vicinity.
Most of us had never been in the orient and the hustle and bustle of the street activity in Saigon was very amusing. Lots of different kinds of vehicles: cars, bicycles, carts, carriages, motor scooters jammed the streets. All kinds of vendors were selling everything imaginable.
