REMEMBERING OUR HEROES
Would you go to the Wall with me,
Black Granite, with cold carved names?
Could you go to the Wall with me
And share my pride and shame?
Or, would you pat me on the head
And tell me: “it’s okay”
That those or just old ghosts and dreams
That will someday go away?
Would you go to the Wall with me
And understand it when I cry?
Could you go to the Wall with me
And help that part of me die?
Tomorrow cannot begin
Until yesterday is done.
It’s like a westward facing window
Waiting for the setting sun.
Would you go to the Wall with me
And hold my hand real tight?
Could you go to the Wall with me
And help me end the fight.
