In the Air Force in 1961, stationed in Japan, I volunteered for duty in Bangkok, Thailand. I was issued civilian clothes and wound my way to Thailand passing through Saigon.

In Bangkok, 18 of us formed a listening post monitoring Chinese communications. We concentrated on intercepting anything that may be related to the Vietnam conflict.

In Bangkok, the only danger we faced was the heat and snakes. The major excitement was during the Cuban Blockade when we were put on high alert and worked rotating twelve hour shifts.
